Integrated Photonics for UK-NL Telecoms

Photonics provides the key connectivity throughout the communications network including right up to the mast in Open RAN and 5G deployment. We are connecting UK and the Netherlands’ diverse optical fibre network suppliers and installers with those innovating equipment to accelerate market adoption. An example of how Anglo-Dutch photonics companies are delivering innovative equipment is EFFECT Photonics’ optical System-on-Chip (SoC) technology. It was recently announced that VodafoneZiggo is the first Dutch telecom provider to test this technology on the mobile network as set up in the 5G Hub in Eindhoven. By bringing together British and Dutch telecom providers such as Vodafone and BT and the photonics supply chain on both sides we aim to stimulate innovation collaboration and the exchange of best practices.
