Bits & Chips Industrial 5G Conference

Set in motion by 5G: do you dare to stand still?

Mobility is one of the unique capabilities of 5G, but how can it help a factory to become wireless? With this presentation, Etienne Scholl will show some inspiring examples of this dynamic within an industrial setting.

Etienne Scholl is working in telecommunications for over 30 years and held various jobs. Recently, Scholl joined the Center of Excellence Industry 4.0, a small team within Ericsson R&D that is looking into 5G use cases for industrial customers. The team is developing an eco-system of companies that can create a full solution that is solving the customers’ needs. It is close to the German industry where the digitalization journey is at full speed.

Creating the 5G factory of the future at Ford

Ford Motor Company is collaborating with Vodafone and a consortium of six other partners to create the ‘Factory of the Future’ using 5G technology in the UK. At the heart of this 2-year government-funded project is a 5G Mobile Private Network (MPN) that delivers highly reliable, secure, high-speed mobile connectivity to the factory floor.

Presentating Chris Allen (Vodafone Group), Chris White (Ford Motor Company) & Juan Pablo Nieto (VodafoneZiggo)

In this presentation, Vodafone and Ford will outline the manufacturing use cases enabled by this new 5G technology, and the lessons learned so far from this collaboration. Vodafone will also show what are the next steps in the Netherlands regarding Mobile Private Networks.
