During the 2021 EuroHockey Nations Championship in the Netherlands, VodafoneZiggo and Ericsson tested network slicing on its commercial network. This first test was for video analysis with cameras’ feed into an AI algorithm to track the ball and players (previously done manually by 3 people for 1 game).
The setup used a dedicated network slice, while 4,000 live visitors also made use of the mobile network. The case brought some good insights to build future use cases on. When network slicing will be a commercial proposition, this use case hopes to extend to other European sports countries as well (such as Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, and many more).
